I am hearing that most brands of batteries of that type are prone to leaking. Cold temperatures can cause these batteries to malfunction, jeopardizing your device's functionality When alkaline batteries meet your eotech optics, there's a chance that battery acid may leak and wreak havoc on your device. Thinking about getting my first eotech site, exps3 with the magnifier
It uses the 123 battery Do the cr123 batteries have a reputation for leaking I've read some horror stories about battery leakage damage I don't know if it is primarily with those flat thin n style batteries or all.
I just grabbed my rifle out of the safe and tried to turn on the eotech and it was dead so i pulled the cover off to check the batteries and noticed one of them had leaked out a little I cleaned everything up the best i could, put new batteries in and it fired up Anyone else have this problem before I had energizers in it, may swap to duracell now

Depends on how old it is There were issues with eotechs some years ago (2007/8/9ish), especially older ones that had problems with the battery compartments causing batteries to burst, leak, or otherwise lose power The eotech 553s socom initially bought had this problem as well, but has since been corrected. Any lithium is just fine
Stick with trusted brands for better consistency out of the batteries and reliability Brands such as duracell, energizer, surefire, streamlight, etc… only stick with lithium batteries as any other has a high risk of leaking battery acid and damaging your sights. Everyready sent me a check to replaced my eotech when their batteries leaked Bought an aimppoint and never looked back! I've been using eotech holosights for several decades Back when they had that recall (none of my eotechs had any issues) i had an old 512 model ( i always hated the aa battery models because those batteries tended to leak battery acid and ruin the holosight).

Either way, aimpoint as well as eotech suffer failures It seems eotech has had better luck with the newer xps/exps series since the battery contact issues appear to have been solved Imo, i would have no problem trusting my life to an eotech just as much as i would trust it to an aimpoint. Throughout the years, eotech has invested heavily in test equipment to torture the products and understand their performance
First, the test lab includes a separate recoil simulator just like the one on the production line used to qualify existing products new improvements and new product designs this thumper can push the limits of extreme.
